Jan 8th

Jan 8thJust a quick one today.

ETA: My boyfriend says my description is crap, so, I took this early on in the day, it’s a giant candle my best friend gave me for my birthday last year. It’s on my windowsil and I like to look at it while I’m working. I changed the tone slightly to get rid of all the blue from the outside light.

Jan 7th – Rainy Days

Jan 7th - Rainy DaysA mundane photograph today, I’ve been really busy trying to get my major research project up to spec (ironically on photography and photo sharing websites). I took this when the sunlight made everything look an interesting tone during the rain. I think the rain on the roof looks like ice.

Just the view out of my window, where I gaze when I’m procrastinating ;) It’s not terribly interesting.

Jan 6th – Be Mindful

Jan 6th - Be MindfulI’ve been taking “mindfulness” classes for the past month. Unfortunately I stopped doing the stuff at home like I should so I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of things before the next one on Wednesday. I came up with this photograph when doing the mindful yoga. Again experimentation with the shutter speed.

I may blog about the class tomorrow, I really enjoy it. It’s mostly about being in the moment and focussing – I think this photograph evokes that quite well.

I wasn’t sure about the light in the top left? What do you think.

Jan 5th – Hope

Jan 5th - HopeI was playing with shutter speed with this. I happened to glance out of our kitchen window and spy the interesting clouds. It’s been quite a grey day here in Portsmouth, but I liked this sign that the longer days and warmer (well not much warmer) weather will return.

I’m not 100% happy with the composition but I didn’t realise until it was dark that this was the case :S I don’t like that that top left part of the clearing is cut off, but other than that I quite like it.

Also looking at it afterwards, I wasn’t sure if there was too much light in the bottom half of the picture – I think I need to experiment further with this.

All in all, a learning type day :)

Jan 4th – Tired

Jan 4th - TiredNothing special today. I forgot until quite late so I was already curled up in bed watching Bones.

I was just messing around with my webcam – not brilliant quality, but whatever ;)

Jan 3rd – On the train again

Jan 3rd - On the train againI had to take my car home today which meant coming back on the train – something I’m very familiar with as I commuted Guildford to Portsmouth for two years. A boring photo for a boring ride for a reason which took up much of my day.

Click the image for flickr goodness.

The Resolution: Daily Photo

Jan 2nd - Students Are GrossSo I have two new years resolutions, one which will probably fail because I’d forgotten Mars eggs existed is the no buying chocolate resolution – see here. The second is Project 365 (I guess 366 this year).

The objective is to take one photograph a day to help you grow as a photographer, learn what’s important to you and to keep a visual memory of your year.

I only discovered this today so I’m a day late, but it’s a leap year so I’ll still have 365 pictures.

I also plan to blog about each picture, so here’s the first one, and it’s not pretty ;) Came home to my student house today, I’d left some wine glasses in the mister’s room because they were mine and didn’t want them breaking, turns out after a week they grow mold!

Gross but interesting. I also like what the flash did with the glass! I used my phone camera for this cause I had it handy ;)

And yes that is our kitchen sideboard, but we’ve not been here so it’s not our mess ;)

As an aside I had a wonderful, romantic new years and feel I started this year really really well. Happy new year everyone!
